Halloween is looming. So, If you’re looking to ‘share the scare’ or maybe just too frightened to watch monster movies alone, snuggle up with the fam and see what’s spooky on streaming.

Monster House – Netflix

You’ve heard of scary things living in haunted houses – well, in this case, the house is the monster. Clever writing and fun visuals make this an entertaining watch for young and old.

Harry Potter Series – Netflix

A young boy must take on an evil wizard and survive his magical high school. These films get spookier later in the series, so if your kids are still young, maybe stick to the first one.

Matilda – Netflix

Immerse yourself in Matilda’s magical world as she lives most kids’ dreams – using her powers to put a mean teacher in her place.

Hotel Transylvania – Stan

Dracula has created a hotel where he and his mates can get away from pesky humans. That is until one finds his secret haven and threatens to turn his spooky world upside down.

Hocus Pocus – Disney Plus

Witches meet their match when they try to take over a small town, as the local kids have other ideas. A classic.

Goosebumps – Disney Plus

Creepy characters are tired of being stuck in their books and want to make every day Halloween.

ParaNorman – Disney Plus

To save his town, Norman will have to take on ghosts, zombies and even grown-ups. The story is great but the animation is astounding.

Spirited Away – Disney Plus

When a girl is transported to a bizarre world she’ll have to fight if she wants to find a way home. A visual masterpiece.

The Nightmare Before Christmas – Disney

Part Halloween movie, part Christmas movie. Find out what happens when Santa is kidnapped and taken to Halloween Town.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events – Paramount Plus

Jim Carrey takes in his orphaned young cousins but he doesn’t want to look after them, he wants to ‘take care of them’ for the inheritance.

I suggest watching the trailers for these movies to see if they’re suitably spooky for your little goblins. Have a spooktacular Halloween!
