Join special guests from History Redcliffe and the City of Moreton Bay Local History team for this panel discussion to celebrate twenty years since the publication of Redcliffe Remembers the War Years 1939-1949 in 2004.
Combining memory with historical background, this book, along with an accompanying DVD, is the result of two years of work and over fifty oral history recordings exploring life in Redcliffe during World War II. The panellists will share memories of this important project and stories of living in Redcliffe during the turbulent decade of 1939-1949.
World War II had an enormous impact on the seaside town of Redcliffe, with members of the community leaving to serve in branches of the military, supporting the war effort at home, experiencing censorship, blackouts and heightened military activity, as well as acting as a popular R&R base for American service personnel.
Redcliffe Remembers the War Years 1939-1949 seeks to document the effects of the war and the role members of the Redcliffe community played in this important moment in history.
