Join them for the Opening of the new exhibitions Red Heart of Australia and Heritage and Museums’ themed collections exhibition, Red, Red, Red.
Redcliffe Museum is delighted to present two new exhibitions over the summer; Red Heart of Australia, a traveling exhibition from the National Museum of Australia and Red, Red, Red, an assembly of objects drawn from the City of Moreton Bay Heritage Collection.
Red Heart of Australia celebrates the brilliant colour of Australia’s red centre, and the colour that unites these desert artworks. Family, Spirituality, and Country are expressed by the artists through the vibrancy of red, the colour of the earth beneath their feet.
Red, Red, Red celebrates the colour of extremes. It is the colour of love and energy and of danger and warning. It is the colour of our famous cliffs and a colour which stands out amongst the museum collections items. Red, Red, Red showcases the red objects in the collection and reveals the stories about its popularity.
Welcome to Country presided over by Lyndon Davis. Lyndon will share his knowledge on Kabi Kabi language and storytelling with focus on the colour “Red” and how and why Redcliffe got its name.
You’re invited to celebrate the opening of these two exhibitions with a special guest speaker from the National Museum of Australia.
