Created by self-care coach for mums, Suzanne Shoesmith, Choice4Change offers comprehensive support through online learning, a free Facebook community group and organised outdoor walking adventures. These resources are designed to help you break free from negative habits, reprogram your mind, elevate your energy and calm your nervous system.

The walking meet-ups are held in various locations around north Brisbane and they combine social interaction with a brisk walk and some self-development tips to improve your well-being. They’re about building real-world connections with other mums, fostering resilience and resourcefulness and unleashing your inner strength to claim the life you deserve.

“Self-development is an ongoing journey and the solution to our problems lies within us – we need to stop looking outside ourselves for the solution,” Suzanne said. “By rewiring our subconscious mind and rewriting our narratives, we can gain new perspectives and break free from negative habits. There are many tools and techniques available to help us along the way.”

Suzanne offers these tips for maintaining forward momentum in your life:

1.  Get out in nature

Nature has healing properties and the colours, sights and smells help us enjoy the present moment. 

2. Exercise

Moving your body has so many benefits – it releases endorphins, boosts your mood, balances your hormones and aids in the development of new neural pathways. 

3. Spend time journalling

Writing down your thoughts and beliefs allows you to reflect, review and shift your mindset. 

4. Take time to breathe

Deep breathing reduces stress and anxiety, calming your nervous system. Practice box breathing: inhale through your nose for four seconds, hold for four, then exhale slowly through your mouth for four.
