So, try this for yourself…
Next time you brush your teeth, try leaving your socks on (no shoes just socks).
Put the toothpaste on, run your brush under the tap (if you do this), and then start brushing.
Now keep brushing and, at the same time, reach down and take off one of your socks.
What happened?
Were you able to keep doing both tasks without missing a beat, or were you like me and flip-flopped between the two tasks, not doing either of them that well? (Or am I just a little bit uncoordinated?)
Why Focusing on One Task Boosts Productivity
So often, I hear the mantra that ‘multitasking helps efficiency’ but that is not the truth.
Even the term multitasking, which comes from computer processors and was invented in the 1970s, is misleading. The processors could only do one thing at a time, but they were able to switch between these tasks incredibly fast, giving the impression it was multitasking.
What’s my suggestion to find more quality time to work on your business?
Do one thing at a time, do it well and don’t start your next task until you have completed your current task.
