For many people, staying strong, mobile and independent as they get older is one of the keys to continuing to enjoy life. Whether it is keeping up with grandchildren, staying active in the community or simply moving confidently through everyday tasks, physical strength and balance play a vital role.
On the Redcliffe Peninsula, Ability In Movement has built a strong reputation for helping people achieve exactly that through personalised Exercise Physiology programs. Now, the local clinic is preparing for an exciting new chapter with the move to a brand new clinic space on 7 April 2026 at 277A Oxley Avenue, Margate.
The move represents an important step forward for the growing practice and the many people in the local community who rely on its services.
Supporting Strength, Mobility and Independence

Ability In Movement is an Exercise Physiology clinic focused on helping adults – particularly older adults – maintain and improve their physical health through tailored exercise programs.
Unlike a traditional gym environment, the clinic provides a welcoming and supportive space where programs are carefully designed and delivered by university-qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologists.
The goal is simple: help people stay strong, reduce pain and improve mobility so they can continue doing the things they love.
Exercise Physiology is backed by extensive research showing that targeted exercise can significantly improve strength, balance and physical function. These improvements can help reduce the risk of falls, support bone health and make everyday movements easier and more comfortable.
For many clients, the result is greater independence and confidence in daily life.
Personalised Programs That Work

One of the key differences at Ability In Movement is the personalised approach to exercise.
Rather than offering generic programs, the team follows a structured process designed to ensure every client receives a plan suited to their specific needs and goals.
1. Setting Goals
The process begins with a conversation about what each person wants to achieve. That could be improving mobility, managing pain, preventing falls or building strength after an injury.
2. Detailed Assessment
Using advanced assessment tools, the team measures strength, balance, power and movement capacity to establish a clear starting point.
3. Program Design
Based on these results, a tailored exercise program is created. The exercises are carefully prescribed to match the individual’s ability level while safely working toward their goals.
4. Progress Tracking
Regular reassessments allow the team to track improvements and adjust programs as clients progress.
This data-driven approach ensures programs remain safe, effective and motivating over the long term.
Evidence-Based Exercise for Long-Term Health
Ability In Movement specialises in exercise programs that support long-term physical function and healthy ageing.
One example is the ONERO Program, an evidence-based strength training program designed to improve bone mineral density (BMD). This program has been developed through extensive research and is widely recognised for its effectiveness in supporting bone health and reducing the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures.
In addition to individual sessions, the clinic also offers small group exercise classes designed specifically for older adults. These classes combine expert guidance with a supportive environment, allowing participants to build strength and balance while also enjoying the social benefits of exercising with others.
The clinic also provides specialised programs for injury rehabilitation, pain management and NDIS exercise therapy, helping participants build capacity and confidence through safe and structured movement.
Technology That Measures Real Progress

A unique feature of Ability In Movement is its use of advanced VALD technology to measure strength, balance and movement performance.
This state-of-the-art assessment equipment provides precise data that helps Exercise Physiologists better understand how a person moves and where improvements can be made.
For clients, it means they can see clear, measurable progress over time.
Whether it is increased leg strength, improved balance or greater mobility, the data helps guide the program and celebrate the milestones along the way.
A Clinic Designed for Confidence
Since opening in 2022, Ability In Movement has helped more than 300 people across the Redcliffe community and conducted over 5,000 Exercise Physiology appointments.
The clinic was founded by Accredited Exercise Physiologist Connor Liekefett, who is passionate about making high-quality Exercise Physiology accessible to the local community.
Connor says the goal has always been to create a space where people feel comfortable exercising, regardless of their experience or fitness level.
“Exercise can be intimidating for some people, especially if they are dealing with pain, injury or mobility challenges,” he explains.
“Our clinic isn’t like a regular gym. It’s designed to be a welcoming environment where people can build strength and confidence safely.”
Expanding with a New Clinic Space
The upcoming move to 277A Oxley Avenue, Margate reflects the continued growth of the clinic and the demand for its services across the peninsula.
The new space will allow Ability In Movement to expand its programs and provide even better facilities for strength training, mobility work and rehabilitation exercises.
Importantly, the move also ensures the clinic can continue supporting more people in the community who want to stay active and independent as they age.
For existing clients, the transition will be smooth, with the same experienced team continuing to provide the personalised care and guidance they have come to trust.
Helping the Community Move Better

From improving balance to rebuilding strength after injury, Exercise Physiology can play a powerful role in maintaining long-term health and independence.
For many local residents, Ability In Movement has become a trusted partner in that journey.
With the move to their new clinic just around the corner, the team looks forward to continuing their mission of helping people across the Redcliffe Peninsula move better, feel stronger and live healthier lives.
