In this issue I have reached out to The Guides Magazines local writers, and they have shared with me their favourite affordable charity shops across North Brisbane.
Whilst we all know of Lifeline, the Salvos and Vinnies, we also know that their prices are not what they use to be. So here I have listed some lesser-known options with (usually) more affordable prices.
Margate Op Shop
$3 Op Shop in Margate has clothing, books, toys, DVD’s, kitchenware, bric a brac & much more! And nothing is over $3! They are a not for profit that raises funds for local charities and organisations.
Be Uplifted Inc Charity Op Shops
Be Uplifted in Boondall & Strathpine is a great op shop that stocks baby, children & adults clothing, accessories, manchester, footwear, nursery items, handmade crafts & quilts and more! It also doubles as an organisation offering financial and practical support to women with breast cancer.
The Shop of Opportunity
EMM Power Shop of Opportunity in Clontarf is not your average op shop. They offer free or heavily discounted children’s clothing, food for those in need, assistance for women struggling to get back into the workforce and even designer garments at affordable prices.
Footprints
Footprints in Bracken Ridge stocks household furniture, clothing, shoes and accessories, books, household bric-a-brac.
Freshwater Op Shop
Freshwater Anglican Parish Op Shop in Deception Bay are only open on Wednesdays but is always worth a look. They sell clothing, dishware, books, toys, and treasures at budget-friendly prices. Their Community Cafe sells barista coffee, muffins, and toasties.
Link Vision Op Shops
Link Vision Op Shops in Deception Bay, Geebung, Lawnton and Zillmere have sporting items, homewares, toys, women’s, men’s and children’s pre-loved clothing.
Randalls Thrift
Randalls Thrift in Northgate sells furniture, records, homewares, lamps, clothing, collectables and retro pieces. The good stuff never lasts long. Only open Thurs–Sun 9am–1pm.
YMCA Op Shops
YMCA Op Shops in Mango Hill and Strathpine sell quality vintage clothing and pre-loved items such as books, shoes, bags, kitchenware, home decor, toys, accessories and other treasures.
