2024 is the Bi-Centenary year of the establishment of Redcliffe. On September 14, 1824, Lt Henry Miller landed at what is now Redcliffe, from the brig Amity with over 20 soldiers, their families and 29 convicts, thus establishing Queensland’s first European settlement.
In celebration of those individuals and groups who have contributed to the Redcliffe communities development and wellbeing over the past 200 years a ceremony is being held to commemorate them.
Redcliffe Wall of Famers Past and Present
The Wall of Fame was first established in 2013 by Richard Lancaster and latterly by Duane Hart. It includes historical figures such as Lt Henry Miller and John Oxley and many more, all of whom were at the first landing. Past and current individuals from all areas of business, sports, arts, crafts and volunteers are included in this prestigious list. Names are being continually added.
It is proposed that the over 120 current Redcliffe `Wall of Famers`, who are able to attend the ceremony will be presented with a Certificate of Fame. For those who have passed on, a relative will be invited to accept the award on their behalf. The public is invited to attend.
