Life today moves fast — and for many of us, it can feel like our minds are always switched on. Work, family, technology and constant noise can make it difficult to slow down and reconnect with ourselves. But Redcliffe local Wesley Ford believes it’s possible to find calm and clarity, no matter how busy life gets — and he’s on a mission to help others do the same.
After a decade of practising Raja Yoga Meditation with The Brahma Kumaris, Wesley has recently relocated to the peninsula with a passion for sharing the benefits of spiritual practice with the local community.
A Journey from Stress to Stability
Wesley’s path to meditation began during his early 20s, when he started full-time work as a chemical engineer in the energy industry. Like many young professionals, he found himself overwhelmed by deadlines, pressure and stress.
“I was desperate to master my mind,” Wesley recalls. “I wanted to be the kind of person who could stay calm, clear and balanced no matter what was happening around me.”
His search for practical, down-to-earth guidance led him to explore several spiritual organisations — but it was The Brahma Kumaris and their approach to Raja Yoga Meditation that truly resonated.
“I was struck by how structured and practical it was,” he says. “There was a daily routine, regular classes, and a strong sense of community. I met people who had been meditating for over 50 years, and they had this incredible presence and peace about them. That’s when I knew I’d found what I was looking for.”
What is Raja Yoga Meditation?
Unlike some other forms of meditation that focus purely on relaxation, Raja Yoga is about connection with the higher self — a journey inward to understand and strengthen the mind. Through this connection, practitioners learn to cultivate inner peace, stability, and self-mastery.
It’s a practice that can be woven into daily life, helping people approach challenges with greater clarity and calm. Over time, Wesley noticed remarkable changes in himself — from managing stress more effectively to developing self-respect and confidence.
“Now, people often comment on how calm I seem under pressure,” he says with a smile. “Raja Yoga gave me the tools to handle life’s ups and downs with more strength and grace.”
From Engineer to Educator

Although Wesley continues to work full-time in engineering, his true passion lies in teaching others how to integrate spirituality into everyday life. He believes meditation isn’t just for those seeking a quiet mind — it’s a practical skill anyone can learn to improve their wellbeing and outlook.
“My goal is to show people how spirituality can be lived — not just studied,” he says. “Whether you’re a student, a parent, working, or retired, meditation can help you face life’s challenges with more confidence and clarity.”
