The not-for-profit social venture EMM Power was founded in memory of Emma, Moi and Mary, three beautiful local women and friends who sadly took their own lives.

EMM Power now has an op shop in Clontarf and supports the community through several initiatives, one of which involves distributing free bread (courtesy of Banjos Bakery and Cafe in Redcliffe).

Michelle Feuerriegel, Founder and Team Leader at EMM Power said she felt grateful that she and her team were able to help those in need, with the ultimate goal being to empower others.

“Our little shop of opportunity is full of surprises and we are so grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from our amazing community,” Ms Feuerriegel said.

She said the contribution that EMM Power had received from Banjo’s Bakery and Cafe in Redcliffe was instrumental and had been “meaningful in such a way that we are able to provide free bread every Saturday and Sunday.”

Ryan Coleman, Manager at Banjos Bakery and Cafe Redcliffe, said he was only too happy to support EMM Power, with “the short and sweet of it being it’s the right thing to do and because throwing away the bread would be a waste.”

EMM Power collaborates with a number of additional organisations, such as Bendigo Bank in Margate, Aspley Assist, Zephyr Education Australia and Our Community Pantry.

“The grant we received from Bendigo Bank Margate enabled us to provide paid training to Our Give a Kid a Chance recipients, which is about providing a safe place for young people to upskill and gain valuable on-the-job training,” Ms Feuerriegel said.

Also absolutely integral, according to Ms Feuerriegel, were her small but dedicated group of ‘Op Shop Angels’ who “work hard every day to keep up with demand and provide quality clothing at affordable prices.”

“It is not unusual on any given day to give away as much as we sell and we offer great value clothing bundles,” Ms Feuerriegel said.

EMM Power has also donated 50,000 dollars to start a female football foundation in memory of Emma, Moi and Mary.
