Fun Day Out Ideas During School Holidays on Redcliffe Peninsula

Here are some ideas for making the most of your summer holidays.

1. Settlement Cove Lagoon

The lagoon is one of the highlights of the Peninsula. With a safe swimming area for children, picnic spots and plenty of shaded areas, you can relax while the kids splash. Pack a picnic and make a day of it, enjoying the beautiful views across Moreton Bay. If you want to splurge, you could buy an ice cream or fish and chips, but it’s easy to visit without spending a cent.

2. Visit a Playground

There are ample playgrounds to explore around the Peninsula. After your swim in the lagoon, start with a play at the adjacent Settlement Cove Playground. There are lots of BBQ spots and shaded tables nearby, so pack some sausages and cook your dinner while the kids play. Or head up or down the coast and stop where the mood takes you as there are plenty of playgrounds to choose from.

3. Take a Walk Along the Redcliffe Jetty

The iconic Redcliffe Jetty is perfect for a leisurely family stroll. You can teach the kids about the area’s history, spot fish, turtles and other marine life, or bring your fishing gear if they want to try their hand at catching something. It’s a peaceful and scenic way to spend time together.

4. Redcliffe Museum

Redcliffe Museum is a fantastic budget-friendly destination for families looking for an educational and entertaining day out as it offers free entry. The museum features engaging exhibits that showcase Redcliffe’s rich heritage, as well as changing exhibitions. Kids will love the interactive displays and learning through hands-on activities.
