With the weather heating up and school holidays fast approaching, it’s time to get your summer hit list ready to go.

While the Redcliffe Peninsula has always offered a plethora of bayside activities, there’s an exciting new addition to watersport adventures this year that offers fun and fitness for the whole family.

Suzi and Sonja May-Coulters, owner/operators of Peninsula Water Sports Hire, explained that waterbiking is one of the newest beachside activities to land in Australia and are thrilled that they can now offer this one-of-a-kind experience in Scarborough.

“Although water bikes have been around for a few years, they are relatively new to Australia,” Sonja said. “We discovered them while sourcing new activities to offer for our business and have had great feedback so far. Everyone is surprised that they are easier to ride than they look!”

The bikes are designed to carry up to 170 kg, so the whole family can enjoy them as children can ride on the back and jump on and off as they go.

“Their unique design makes them easy to manoeuvre,” Suzi said. “It’s an enjoyable, eco-friendly way to explore the water.”

More Than Just Waterbikes – Extra Activities and Friendly Service

Although Sonja and Suzi only opened the business in February this year, the idea for their new venture had been a long time in the making.

“Many years ago, we had enormous fun on the big-wheeled water trikes with our family at Coochie,” Sonja said. “We thought that offering something similar would be great fun for other families and an enjoyable business for us to operate.”

Putting customer service at the forefront, Sonja and Suzi said they were always happy to go above and beyond to ensure their guests had a great time.

“In addition to the waterbikes, we offer paddleboards as well as single and double kayaks,” Suzi said. “We also offer complimentary beach games and bodyboards for everyone to enjoy.”

Sonja said it was so nice meeting a lovely variety of people and seeing them forget about everyday life for a while.

“It’s especially enjoyable watching kids have fun while playing and exercising outside without video games,” Sonja said.

Peninsula Water Sports Hire is located at Jamieson Park and is open from 8am on Saturdays and Sundays (weather permitting). For more information, call or text 0432 730 989, or follow along on Facebook for all of the latest updates.
