After undergoing a makeover earlier this year, Peninsula Fair’s Community Hub is providing some free activities with a current focus on games and crafts.
One group, Kippa Crafters, caters to individuals who enjoy working on their own craft projects in a social setting, while Shuffle n Roll brings people together for card or board games of their choosing.
A Welcoming Space for Connection
Marketing Manager at Peninsula Fair Shopping Centre, Anna Butler, said the idea behind the hub was “to bring people together in a welcoming space where friendships can grow and new skills can be shared.”
“We have plenty of undercover parking, air conditioning and convenient access to food options,” Ms Butler said.
According to Ms Butler, her team met with Bryan Wiseman from the local organisation Band of Brothers (which aims to combat loneliness in the community) and decided to work together to create the new events.
“We invite anyone interested to join the groups and invite anyone with an idea for a group to get in touch,” she said.
A roster is displayed in the hub (located near the Hoyts Cinemas escalators), listing the days and times of existing groups, along with contact information for anyone interested in joining.
