Follow Dorothy along the yellow brick road this month to the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre for an exciting rendition of The Wizard of Oz.
Redcliffe Musical Theatre are taking to the stage for a rendition of the beloved classic from 29 August to 7 September.
Director Madeleine Johns said the audience could expect an extremely magical journey.
“Audiences can expect a thoroughly delightful musical experience!” Madeleine said.
“With Redcliffe Musical Theatre’s much-loved regulars, such as Terry Skinner as The Wizard and Erickson Ilustre as The Tin Man.
“(We also have) up-and-coming theatre stars such as Alex Holmes as The Scarecrow and Lucas Van Stam as The Lion.”
The cast have been rehearsing for the production for three months, following their auditions back in May, and have been meeting three times per week.
“(I) have directed this version of The Wizard of Oz previously, and I’m very clear of what the show should look like and how to structure the rehearsals so they are not too long and will keep up the energy and enthusiasm of the cast throughout,” Madeleine said.
Community, Creativity, and Timeless Theatre
When asked what she is most looking forward to with this production, Madeleine said, “With the advent of new technology, such as projections and enhanced lighting, it will be fabulous to work with these theatrical elements to create a more magical experience for theatre-goers.
“I also love working with young performers, and I am delighted that we can give our younger performers the opportunity to perform on such a lovely stage and in such a timeless and much-loved musical.
“These are memories that they will take with them for a very long time. And it is our honour to welcome many ‘new’ theatre-goers and to transport them to the land of Oz.”
