Looking for a relaxed way to meet new people, spark great conversation and enjoy a good read? The Blokes Book Club at Redcliffe Library offers just that – a monthly gathering for men who enjoy books and a bit of banter.
This informal group is made up of local men who meet to chat about a wide range of books and ideas in a welcoming and easy-going setting. Whether you’re an avid reader or just want to connect with others in the community, this group is open to all blokes keen for a yarn and some fresh perspectives.
The idea for the group began when a local library member reached out looking for a men’s book club in Redcliffe. When staff realised there wasn’t one, the Redcliffe Library team decided to create a dedicated program themselves so they could offer something new for the community.
Mayor Peter Flannery said he was proud to have initiatives like the Blokes Book Club to support social connections in the community.
“Whether you’re already a book lover or curious to give reading a go, the Blokes Book Club is a great opportunity to read and share ideas with like-minded blokes,” he said.
“Held on the fourth Thursday of every month at Redcliffe Library, the book club is a chance for men to connect with others, share what they’re reading and build a sense of community.
“Connection matters, which is why we encourage the community to get involved in our local library events, have a laugh with friends and take a break from the daily grind.
“We take great pride in our library services across City of Moreton Bay, providing low-cost and free activities designed for all ages and abilities to enjoy and get involved in.”
How to Join the Conversation
It’s not just about the books – it’s about the mateship. The Blokes Book Club offers a chance to feel part of something, expand your thinking and enjoy thoughtful discussion in good company. Plus, you might stumble across books you’d never have picked up on your own.
