Proving business is buzzing in the Peninsula area, the Redcliffe Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Business Awards recently showcased a number of worthy winners.
Drumroll commences for: Redcliffe Musical Theatre and Madeleine Johns for Community Service; Cornerstone Funerals and Sam Major for Customer Service; EBK Group and Nick Stevens for Industry Business; Express Neuro and Swati Lavekar for New Business Encouragement; Elliott Importing (Think4Earth) and Dominic Elliott for Retail Business; My Care Enterprises and Kerrie-Anne Dooley for Small Home-Based Business.
Ken Dunn, chamber committee member at Redcliffe Chamber of Commerce, said the awards (which took place at The Komo in early November) were a huge success, complete with the hum of a very enthusiastic crowd and the support of many fantastic organisers and contributors.
“A big thank you to our wonderful sponsors, Moreton Money, the City of Moreton Bay, Redcliffe Counselling Services, Karios, Queensland Test and Training Services, Together we Care, Soul Crystal Earth, The Komo, The Redcliffe Guide, My Care Enterprises, and Beyond the Maze,” Ken said.
Inspiring Stories of Recognition and Passion
According to Swati Lavekar, a neurological physiotherapist at Express Neuro Rehabilitation Services, winning the New Business Encouragement Award afforded her a real sense of recognition for her hard work and passion for her business.
“This achievement has made me reflect on the journey I’ve taken, the obstacles I’ve overcome and the dreams I’m turning into reality,” Swati said.
After moving to Redcliffe in 2008, Swati finished her training and registration as a neurological physiotherapist and accumulated local industry experience – with a focus on treating conditions such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and functional neurological disorders.
“The brain’s ability to recover and form new connections through neuroplasticity fascinates me and I have always had a dream of starting my own business,” Swati said.
Receiving an award was a humbling experience for Sam Major, general manager of Cornerstone Funerals, as well as a means of receiving important feedback from the local community “who have trusted us with their loved ones.”
He said it was great to see so many small businesses (that are locally owned and operated) serving the Redcliffe and Moreton Bay City communities.
