From jazz hands to show tunes, music theatre fans are being invited to rediscover their love of performing at Theatre Kid Revival.
Held over four days this month, the program is designed for adults who love musical theatre but no longer have the time to commit to full productions or weekly rehearsals.
Melissa Mataic, Studio Director at Red Music + Dance, said years of watching parents cheer from the audience sparked the idea for Theatre Kid Revival.
“The idea came from seeing so many parents sitting in our audiences over the years, cheering on their children while quietly putting their own creative passions aside,” Melissa said. “I started thinking about how many adults were once singers, dancers, performers, or simply people who love musical theatre.”
A Stage for Adults to Reconnect with Their Passion
Participants will enjoy group singing, movement and choreography inspired by musicals including Wicked, Grease, The Sound of Music, Hairspray and The Phantom of the Opera, before finishing with a showcase performance for family and friends.
Melissa said Theatre Kid Revival was open to everyone, regardless of their performing experience.
“Absolutely everyone is welcome,” she said. “If you’ve ever found yourself singing along to a cast recording in the car, reminiscing about school musicals, or wondering what it would be like to step back on stage, this experience was created for you.”
