For Tracy and Doug Collins, Redcliffe is more than just home – it’s a haven that perfectly balances their passion for international travel with the strong sense of belonging they’ve found in the Moreton Bay community.
Originally from the UK, Doug and Tracy began their Australian adventure with jobs in Mackay. However, it wasn’t long before the laid-back charm and stunning coastal views of Redcliffe drew them closer to Brisbane while retaining the close-knit vibe they love.
“From the moment we arrived, Redcliffe felt like home,” Tracy said.
“There’s something special about living by the water and being part of a community that’s so welcoming, plus it’s within easy reach of Brisbane. We were very happy that both of our careers allowed us to relocate here.”
Doug explained the feeling of returning home after a big international trip.
“We travel frequently but there’s a comfort in knowing we are coming back to this beautiful, peaceful place we call home at the end of it,” Doug said.
Passion for Travel and Community
When they’re not soaking up the relaxed coastal lifestyle, the couple can be found working on projects that reflect their shared passion for travel. Tracy is a former history teacher with a gift for storytelling and she runs three websites: UK Travel Planning, London Travel Planning and Global Travel Planning, and two podcasts: UK Travel Planning and Global Travel Planning.
Doug brings his own special insights to the mix. He is now a local community nurse in Redcliffe, but his background in the UK was in the rail industry before he retrained and changed careers. He contributes logistical perspectives to their travel advice as he has the unique experience of having travelled the length and breadth of the UK rail network.
Together, their combined expertise gained from their careers, their experiences and their travels, along with their love of helping people, ensures journeys are well-planned and rewarding.
Despite their far-flung escapades, Doug and Tracy love working from their Redcliffe base and being part of the community here.
“It doesn’t matter where we’ve been, there’s no better feeling than stepping out onto the waterfront and taking in the view,” Doug said. “It’s the best reminder of why we love this place.”
