For those perhaps still wondering about the way to San Jose, The Best of Burt Bacharach and Hal David tribute concert will soon arrive at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre.
The production will showcase classics like Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head, and I Say a Little Prayer delivered by three vocalists and a seven-piece band – all on the one night of Friday, 17 April.
According to co-producer Melanie Evans of Wild Goat Entertainment, the show brings together iconic tunes that are easy to sing along to, with people often surprised at learning just how many well-known pieces Bacharach and David wrote.
“I have always loved Bacharach and David’s music – it’s equal parts sophisticated and accessible, with gorgeous melodies and lyrics that stay with you long after you’ve finished listening,” Ms Evans said.
Ms Evans said she gravitates towards producing shows she would like to see, so The Best of Burt Bacharach and Hal David was a concept she was able to easily work with and get excited about.
From Opera to 60s Pop: Meet the Performers
Vocalist Chris Herden said he was invited to take part in the show (by Ms Herden and co-producer and vocalist Renae Suttie) while he was touring in another Wild Goat Entertainment production, Good Morning Vietnam, and answered affirmatively with no hesitation.
“The ‘Bacharach Sound’ of the 1960s and 1970s and other songs from this genre and period are a big part of my singing career (for the past couple of years now, I’ve also been presenting this type of repertoire at concerts for Dementia Australia and aged care centres),” he said.
Mr Herden said ever since his very first performance in Redcliffe, when he was a member of the State’s opera company, he’s looked forward to performing at South East Queensland venues.
According to Ms Evans, the concert had played at Noosa, Caloundra and Cleveland (with a show coming to Logan later this year), with her expectation being that local patrons would delight in the production.
“Moreton Bay, and specifically the immediate Redcliffe and surrounding areas, really loves their music and theatre – they appreciate a high-quality show,” she said.
