Learn how to make your very own Christmas wreath, table arrangement or candle decorations with a morning of creativity at Beachmere Community Centre.
On Saturday, 6 December, a Christmas wreath-making and table decoration workshop will be held by Beachmere Art Society, with Redcliffe Floral and Art Festival founder, Liz Peters, running the class.
Liz said wreath-making was about much more than technique and that she would show guests the basics of how to make a simple decoration that would look spectacular when finished.
“It’s a burst of ideas and enthusiasm with greenery, baubles, symbols and decorations that will flow to make something the participant creates, hopefully enjoying the process and loving the end product,” she said.
“Wreaths have been a Christmas tradition since Victorian times, when Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, brought the custom from Germany. Since then, you can’t really imagine Christmas without them.”
Hands-On Beginner Class for Festive Creations
This beginner’s class involves making wreaths, table arrangements and learning how to decorate a candle. Attendees will learn florist tricks, including how to make a sturdy frame, choosing long lasting materials, inserting and holding greenery onto the frame.
Participants can choose between a wreath made of pine or a wreath made of palm. The class is all inclusive and those attending will be able to take home finished items ready for display.
Tickets are $54.26 (excluding booking fee), which includes wreath-making supplies. Seats are limited, so those interested are encouraged to book early to secure a spot.
