Although Linda Prescott is well-known as the ‘Love Guru’ and owner of Ideal Introductions, Brisbane’s Leading Professional Matchmaker, you might be surprised to learn that she is a Redcliffe local.
With a keen eye for potential partners and a personal perspective on the Peninsula region and beyond, Linda is perfectly placed to offer a retrospective on romance.
According to Linda, the Redcliffe area offers a singles scene that is not as rushed or transactional as city dating, so it “feels friendlier and more genuine.”
“People love being outdoors, walking along the jetty, or meeting at the markets,” Linda said.
“Redcliffe, unfortunately, doesn’t have a lot of places to meet singles – but it is a great place for people to come to for dates.”
Dating Advice and The Modern Singles Scene
According to Linda, those looking for love should put an emphasis on developing their communication skills and empathy.
“That’s because looks and chemistry only get you so far – emotional intelligence is the glue,” she said.
Offering a “match based on compatibility and not just a profile picture,” Ideal Introductions aims to balance people’s lists of ‘must-haves’ with practical realities.
“We usually end up helping people see what really matters for longevity, like shared values and goals, and that’s when love can surprise them.”
Although dating apps have their place, Linda said that in the world of modern dating, which might be described as a ‘swipe-left, swipe-right’ culture, conventional romance can be greatly underestimated.

In addition to facilitating “proper dates” in her work at Ideal Introductions, Linda can also be relied upon to serve up some home truths.
“With thirty percent of online daters already in relationships, meeting someone face-to-face will always show the real picture,” she said.
The thing to remember, according to Linda, is to “go on a date with the expectation that you are just going to have a genuinely good time getting to know someone new.”
“Open mind equals open heart,” she said, and that may be the secret to spending a spectacular Redcliffe sunset with someone special.
