To mark 30 years since the release of his album Tamborine Mountain, Rick Price is heading out on a special national tour across Australia.
The acclaimed singer/songwriter will visit both major cities and regional centres as part of the tour, performing the album in its entirety, along with fan favourites from his extensive back catalogue.
Fans on the Redcliffe Peninsula can catch the acclaimed singer/songwriter live at the Scarborough Bowls Club on Saturday, 4 October.
“Performing in smaller venues provides a more intimate setting and an up close and personal connection with the audience,” Rick said.
First released in 1995, Tamborine Mountain was produced by Rick alongside New York producer Ben Wisch. The lead single, River of Love, debuted in April 1995 and quickly climbed the ARIA Charts, with the full album following in July to similar acclaim. The album also features a duet with Tina Arena on Trust Me This Is Love and a guitar contribution from Tommy Emmanuel on Foolish Heart.
The album’s title pays tribute to the rainforest region in the Gold Coast Hinterland near Beaudesert, Rick’s childhood home, and the inspiration behind many of his songs.
Rick said that he also had a personal connection to the Redcliffe area. He has worked closely with Clontarf organisation Team Musicare, hosting songwriting workshops for people with disabilities.
“I’ve enjoyed working with Team Musicare over the last couple years; they are a wonderful organisation and we always have inspiring and fun sessions,” he said.
“As a child performer, we often performed around the Redcliffe area, and so I have some wonderful memories of that time.
“So, it’s somewhat nostalgic for me to revisit that part of the world.”
In addition to River of Love, fans can look forward to hearing tracks from Tamborine Mountain like Bridge Building Man, written in honour of Rick’s father and grandfather, as well as timeless hits from his career, including Heaven Knows, Not A Day Goes By, and Walk Away Renee.
Rick said that all of the songs on Tamborine Mountain had grown and evolved with him over time, but that the “sentiments remain the same”.
“My hope is that the audience enjoy the stories and songs and leave the show feeling uplifted,” he said.
