A group of 16 young dancers from Moreton Bay recently embarked on an unforgettable week-long tour of the USA, where they performed on stages in Los Angeles.
Aged between 8 and 17, the dancers came from Sharon Alback Dance Centre (Redcliffe) and Generation Dance Centre (Narangba), uniting to represent their community internationally. Thirteen students were from Sharon Alback and three from Generation Dance.
Diahann Maude, manager of Sharon Alback Dance Centre, said all the dancers were local to the Peninsula.
“They have shared rehearsals between the two studios, building a new connection and making new friends,” Diahann said.
Performances and Experiences
Their 30-minute ‘Good Vibes Tour’ show – a high-energy mix of jazz, hip hop, tap, acrobatics, and song and dance – was performed at Disneyland, Universal Studios, and a children’s festival in LA. For most of the kids, it was their first time travelling to the USA.
They also participated in dance workshops at Playground and Millennium Dance Complex, learning from some of the industry’s best.
The group was farewelled last month at a launch event where Councillor Karl Winchester presented travel bags, joined by Leanne from Shane King MP’s Kurwongbah office.
Supported by generous local businesses, this trip gave the dancers valuable experience, global exposure, and memories to last a lifetime.
