Forget the flight to Europe! Arcade Wine has arrived and it’s bringing the vibrant flavours and charm of European wine to the Redcliffe Peninsula.
Originally calling Ashgrove home, the tapas and wine bar opened in Redcliffe last year and has rapidly established itself as a must-visit spot for wine enthusiasts and food lovers.
Matthieu Rabiet and Danilo Duseli, both skilled sommeliers with a combined experience of 50 years of learning about wine from around the world, brought Arcade Wine to Redcliffe as a way to reconnect with their European roots. Their move reflects a deep appreciation for quality wine and a desire to share their expertise with the seaside community.
“Having grown up in Europe, this is more of a return to a lifestyle we know and want to share with everyone,” Matthieu said. “After working in traditional restaurants for many years at the highest levels in Australia, we enjoy going back to our roots. Our European-style tapas wine bar is a charming, intimate space where flavours and experiences come together.”
A Wine and Dining Experience Like No Other
The wine bar offers a unique blend of experiences, where guests can explore a selection of fine wines, indulge in delicious tapas and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The extensive wine list offers takeaway bottles from $30 to $1500, while dine-in selections range from $45 to $2000.
To complement the wines, the menu features carefully curated dishes showcasing the finest regional ingredients. Inspired by Mediterranean, Spanish, Italian and French cuisine, the tapas-style plates are designed for sharing.
“Think vibrant olives, thinly sliced cured meats like jamón ibérico, marinated anchovies, crispy croquettes filled with creamy cheese or ham, and perhaps grilled octopus with a drizzle of olive oil and lemon,” Matthieu said. “Every dish has layers of flavour, often using fresh, seasonal ingredients and they’re meant to be savoured slowly while you sip on a glass of wine.”
Effortlessly blending rustic charm with modern sophistication, Arcade Wine offers a warm yet refined atmosphere.
“Picture entering a rustic yet modern space, with wooden tables, ambient lighting and shelves stocked with a selection of wines from various regions of Italy and France,” Matthieu said. “The atmosphere is relaxed, elegant but vibrant, with soft chatter, clinking glasses and the rich aroma of cooking mingling in the air.”
With a selection of wines you won’t find anywhere else, Matthieu and Danilo have created a space where both seasoned connoisseurs and newcomers can explore and appreciate the art of wine.
“Our regulars come to us for advice, and our unique license allows us to sell directly as a bottle shop,” Matthieu explains. “My career as a sommelier allows me to guide anyone, whether they’re highly knowledgeable or just beginning their journey. We built this venue for the locals, an adult space dedicated to adults, where wine is at the centre.”
Arcade Wine is open Tuesday to Thursday from 2pm to 9pm, and Friday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm. Sundays are reserved for private events.
