Celebrate Youth Week these April school holidays with one local band.
Scarborough-based band Causeway is taking to the stage at the Redcliffe Museum to play some classic tunes in celebration of young people aged 12 to 25 years of age.
The Perfect Opportunity To Connect With the Community
Lead guitarist of Causeway Weston Bavage said the event was the perfect opportunity for the band to connect with the community more.
“The chance to connect with our community more [is what is most exciting to us],” Weston said. “Me, Caleb (bass guitar) and Kai (drums) have always lived in the area, and Holly (vocals) moved here from the UK 15 years ago, so it’s a very important place for us, and connecting with our Redcliffe community through such a great organisation is amazing.”
Even more exciting is that this will be the band’s first time playing at a venue, since forming back in school at Southern Cross Catholic College in 2021.
“This is our first real time playing in a venue since the other guys graduated high school two years ago,” Weston said.
“Usually, we play at our friend’s parties…we have really nice friends who love our band and we’re excited we get to play for youth week this year at the museum.”
Audiences can expect Causeway to play a unique blend of the band’s most significant musical influences, from indie to classic.
“We all have very broad influences musically, we love Aussie bands and love the artists that are popping up in the scene right now, at a time when I think it’s fair to say that the independent Australian music industry is struggling,” Weston said.
“Bands like Ocean Alley and Sticky Fingers have been important ones for us, but me and Caleb particularly love the Chilli Peppers, and Kings of Leon are usually our go-to’s.”
When asked what the future holds for Causeway, Weston said: “We would love to record our own songs and play some more shows, and hopefully get the opportunity to do so after Youth Week this year.”
This event is free, but bookings are essential.
