Celebrate student creativity at the Humpybong State School (HSS) Art Show, where more than 1000 artworks – including paintings, drawings, and a large-scale weaving installation – will be on display.
This year’s art show will be held on Tuesday, 16 September, in the Humpybong State School Assembly Hall.
HSS Art Show Coordinator and art teacher, Susan Gossow, invited everyone to join the school for an unforgettable afternoon of colour, creativity and community spirit.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to support our students, connect with the community, and take home a unique piece of art,” she said.
Year 5 student Charlie S created a mixed-media artwork of a peacock for the show.
Charlie said he got to choose from five images in different poses for his artwork.
“I wanted to use a cool colour scheme with areas that were contrasting to the warm tones to make it more interesting to look at,” he said.
“This was more than just painting, as we also used blending techniques and mixed media to enhance the peacock and other insects. We also looked at how movement can be shown in tools and colour to make an image look three-dimensional.”
Auction and Competition Prizes
An art auction will feature Year 6 artworks alongside donated pieces from the wider Moreton community, with former Deputy Principal Greg Lowcock as auctioneer.
Winners of the HSS Art Competition will also be revealed during the show, with prizes awarded in both young artist and parent categories.
