One local club has reached a big milestone after being granted a $1 per year peppercorn lease.
The Redcliffe and Districts Radio Club was granted the peppercorn lease in July, which allows the club to install radio repeater infrastructure.
President of the Redcliffe and Districts Radio Club, John Saunders, said the new lease is something the club has been working towards for a long time.
“This leasing process has been something the Club Committee of Management has been working on for two years now,” John said.
“It is a great relief to achieve this milestone, but we still have a long way to go in getting facilities established on the Ocean View site.
“We are hugely indebted to Cr Karl Winchester, who has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Club through our many projects, along with the staff from Community Leasing.”
Future Growth and Community Impact
The new lease allows the club to have tenure over the Ocean View site, meaning they can plan for the future without the risk of ownership changes.
“We plan to continue to grow the hobby as younger people discover that there’s more to communication than chatting through an online video game,” John said.
“For people with a technical itch to scratch and who want to know ‘how it works’, RDRC will be there to help.”
