Blues-rock singer-songwriter Rose Carleo will kick off her Queensland Showcase Tour on the Peninsula this month.
She will perform at Scarborough Bowls Club on Thursday, 19 March, joined by guitarist, musical collaborator and co-songwriter Mick Adkins, as part of a national tour.
“Audiences can expect an intimate, heartfelt night of music – a mix of original songs and a few well-loved favourites,” Rose said.
“These shows are all about connection, storytelling, and letting the songs breathe. It’s relaxed, honest, and very much about sharing the moment together.
“Smaller venues allow for a really personal connection. You can see faces, feel the room, and respond in real time. There’s no barrier – it feels more like a conversation than a performance, which I absolutely love.”
A Celebrated Career and Love of Live Performance
Rose has been performing for more than three decades, and her career includes multiple ARIA charting albums, an APRA/AMCOS Single of the Year win, and a new album due this May.
“Over the years, I’ve become more confident in trusting my own voice and instincts,” Rose said. “Early on, it was about proving myself; now it’s about honesty and emotional truth. My songwriting has become more reflective, and I’m less afraid of simplicity – sometimes saying less says more.”
Last year, Rose reached a whole new audience after appearing on The Voice Australia, where all four coaches turned their chairs during her performance. She progressed through to the Showdowns round, describing the experience as “incredibly humbling”.
“Connecting with people who may not have discovered my music otherwise has been really special,” she said. “I’ve loved hearing from listeners who’ve gone back and explored my earlier work – it feels like a beautiful full-circle moment.”
Rose said touring with her partner Mick was a “joy”.
“We understand each other musically and personally, which makes everything flow more easily on the road,” she said. “There’s a lot of laughter, mutual respect, and a shared love of the music – and that comes through on stage.”
When it comes to performing live, Rose said she most enjoyed, “That moment of connection – when a song lands and you can feel it resonate in the room.”
“Live performance is where music truly comes alive for me,” she said. “It’s raw, unpredictable, and deeply human.”
