Movement has a big part to play in science, and funnily enough, it’s also the travelling kind of exhibition that’s soon coming to Moreton Bay, called Science on the Move.

This unique exhibition was created by Questacon to bring interactive science experiences to regional areas, and it will reach the Redcliffe Museum in May to stay for a period of just over two months.

Tim Crowther, Travelling Exhibitions Manager at Questacon, said the dynamic exhibition (with free admission) features 19 hands-on experiences that invite visitors to interact with science in creative and physical ways.

“Throughout the exhibition, visitors can test their problem-solving abilities with a variety of puzzles that engage both the body and mind,” Mr Crowther said.

According to Mr Crowther, visitors can make music by hitting pipes of different lengths or using bottles filled with varying amounts of water and air.

They can also try their hand at balancing six loose sticks in mid-air atop a single upright stick and attempt to solve the spatial challenge of fitting four identical shapes into a space meant for three.

“The displays are designed to be interactive, engaging and thought-provoking,” Mr Crowther said.

Science Becomes a Playful Learning Experience

Mr Crowther said that learning about science was essential in helping to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills and curiosity.

“Questacon’s travelling exhibitions are designed to make science fun, accessible and engaging for all ages,” he said.

The Science on the Move event is expected to be quite popular, particularly among families with children, according to Mr Crowther.

“We have consistently received positive feedback and high attendance rates in regional areas,” Mr Crowther said.

He said that Questacon has a range of travelling exhibitions and programs planned for the future.

“We can’t wait to see the community enjoy all the activities on offer and discover the wonders of science firsthand,” he said.
