Creativity will take centre stage as Craftival returns to Redcliffe Library, bringing together local artists and the community for a day of hands-on inspiration.

Held on Saturday, 30 May, the free event celebrates all things handmade, with a program featuring artist talks, live demonstrations, workshops and a pop-up marketplace showcasing local creative businesses.

Among the creatives involved is ceramic artist Bonnie Hislop, who will take part in a live demonstration during the event.

“This will be my first visit to Craftival, and I’m so excited to be part of it,” Bonnie said. “I’m also looking forward to checking out all the other speakers’ presentations and the handmade markets!”

Visitors will have the opportunity to see Bonnie’s creative process up close during her session.

She said her work focuses on both functional and conceptual ceramic pieces, often exploring themes of identity and experience through her designs.

“My ceramic practice centres around brightly coloured, illustrative vessels and forms, with two distinct facets,” Bonnie said. “I love to make small functional pieces that are simply joyful droplets of my imagination, as well as larger, more conceptual works, sardonic in tone, that explore the human experience through a femme lens.”

Supporting Local Creatives and Emerging Talent

Craftival will also feature a new Youth Market space in collaboration with Youngpreneur Markets by Chloe, providing opportunities for young creatives to showcase and sell their work.

Chloe said the initiative aims to support young creatives and small businesses.

“Supporting young creatives early on can make a huge difference in their confidence and future direction,” Chloe said. “When young people feel encouraged and supported, they’re more likely to continue pursuing their ideas and turning them into something meaningful.”

The dedicated space will support emerging entrepreneurs while giving visitors the chance to discover unique, locally made products.

“Events like this provide invaluable real-world experience,” Chloe said. “For many young entrepreneurs, this may be their very first market, so it’s an opportunity to learn how to interact with customers, manage sales, present their brand and build confidence.”

Alongside the markets, visitors can explore the library’s creative studios, enjoy family-friendly activities and take part in workshops designed to inspire all ages.
