Clontarf’s St Peter the Fisherman Anglican Church is set to hold a fundraiser breakfast in support of people in northern Ghana, where poverty is rife and drought makes farming very difficult.

For a suggested $10 donation, the invitation is open to enjoy a hot meal of bacon and eggs, tea, and coffee on Saturday, 9 May, with the aim of the church providing a million pigs and chickens (hence the bacon and egg theme) to their fellow Christians overseas.

According to organiser Gail Symons, although members of the St Peter the Fisherman Anglican Church have individually supported Barnabas Aid for a number of years, this is the first fundraising breakfast of its kind.

“The idea occurred as an extension to the men’s breakfast that we have been running for a few years,” Miss Symons said.

She said the Barnabas Brekkie Fundraiser would be run entirely by volunteers in a very worthwhile endeavour.

“This is an important charity to support, as it has been established for a long time and does wonderful work in helping people in third-world countries,” Ms Symons said.
