A vibrant new dining experience has landed in Redcliffe, with Thai Boi serving up bold, flavour-packed dishes inspired by traditional Thai flavours with a modern twist.
Led by owner and director Joe Nunyoi, Thai Boi is a family-run restaurant that draws heavily on tradition while embracing a fresh and playful approach to modern dining.
“Thai Boi was born from our upbringing in Thailand, where food was everything, especially cooking alongside our grandmother,” Joe said. “We wanted to bring those nostalgic flavours to Brisbane, but do it in a way that feels fresh and fun.”
The venue itself plays a key role in the experience, with interiors inspired by Thailand in the 70s to 80s, creating a space that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
Joe said the venue was designed to create a unique and immersive atmosphere.
“It’s not just about the food, it’s the whole vibe,” Joe said. “The interiors, the energy, the way the dishes are named and served, it all comes together to create something that feels different.”
A Menu Rooted in Tradition with a Modern Twist
The menu is deeply personal, drawing on family recipes and years of hospitality experience, while offering a modern take on classic Thai flavours.
For first-time visitors, the menu features a range of dishes designed to showcase the full Thai Boi experience, including the Sassy Scallops, Slay My Quack Taco, Thai Boi Puff, Queen Barra Salad and Samui Duck Curry, each delivering bold, playful flavours.
Joe said the menu was inspired by family influences and traditional recipes.
“It all comes back to family,” Joe said. “Our menu is influenced by recipes from our grandmother and our family restaurant in north eastern Thailand,” Joe said.
“We keep the soul of those dishes intact, but play with presentation and flavour to give them a modern edge.”
Among the favourites is the Kanlaya Beef Panang, a dish that holds special meaning for the team.
“It’s our mum’s recipe, rich, creamy, and deeply comforting,” he said. “It’s one of those dishes that says everything about who we are.”
Looking ahead, the team is preparing to expand the experience with the launch of Thai Boi Sip Club, an after-dark offering featuring Asian-inspired cocktails and a more social, late-night atmosphere.
