One of the unexpected outcomes of documenting our local area – through photos and videos shared on platforms like Facebook and YouTube, alongside writing for this magazine – has been just how far the reach has extended beyond the immediate community.
What began as a way to showcase what’s happening locally has gradually drawn people from well outside the region. I’ve spoken with visitors travelling from the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Ipswich and even further west, all keen to experience the area for themselves after seeing it featured.
It highlights something many locals already know – this place is about more than just fishing. It’s the atmosphere, the accessibility, and the people that give the area its character and make it worth the trip.
With that in mind, there’s one simple request for those visiting and locals alike: Please support the local businesses that help keep this community thriving.
Places like Hornibrook Bait & Tackle and Tackle Land Sandgate have long been part of the fabric here, offering not just gear and bait, but local knowledge and support.
If we value places like this, it’s worth doing our part to support the people behind them.
I really appreciate everyone who follows along, enjoys the posts and articles, and respects our local area.
