When the scent of slow-cooked brisket drifts through the air and the sounds of live music carry across a bustling crowd, you know something special is happening.  

Taste the Bay Newport, presented by City of Moreton Bay, will take place at Newport Park on Saturday, 13 June. The free event aims to be an energetic, flavour-filled celebration designed to bring the community together in a market-style atmosphere. Attendees can sample fresh produce, discover delicious eats and connect with the people behind the city’s best offerings. 

One familiar face in the mix is Candice Kiss, chef and owner of Annie Lane Café, Gather & Feast Café and Ruby Tuesday Café. She said the event was more than just a day out, it’s a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with the people and produce that inspire her work.  

“Taste the Bay came from a want and a need for community to gather with friends over good food, local brewers and celebrating Moreton Bay producers,” she said. “A chance for regional areas to not miss out on big festival vibes without the price tag and in our shared community space.” 

Candice’s involvement came through a local connection, and she said she saw it as a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and immerse herself within the community. That sense of connection is at the heart of everything she plans to bring to the table.

Showcasing Local Produce and Festival Experiences  

“I’m looking forward to doing something a little different, surrounded by my extended family’s produce (Moreton Bay farmers), showcase their beautiful products, but most importantly get amongst my community,” Candice said. “It’s a chance for me to give back, have a chat and create connections.” 

Candice will be serving up barbecue plates, such as slow-cooked briskets piled high with salads, Mexican smoked corn and local condiments – aiming to showcase the region’s best ingredients. 

Alongside the food experience, participants will be able to enjoy a program of local live music, creative activities and family-friendly entertainment.
